Covid-19 update

There were no new Covid-19 cases today. The number of cases remains at 90. There are now 89 recoveries and only 1 active case remaining.

There are 439 people under active monitoring and 664 people in self-monitoring. As of yesterday, there had been 1,543 suspected cases, 1,453 of which had come back negative.

As for Covid-19 testing, 19,735 samples from 17,768 people have been analysed at Laboratório de Patologia Clínica do SESARAM (Madeira Health Service lab).

The SRS 24 helpline (Regional Health Service – 800 24 24 20) received 36 calls from Tuesday to Wednesday. Overall, the total number of calls made to this helpline is 8,587.

The Covid-19 mental health helpline (219 212 399 – available every day from 9h00 to 21h00) that was set up to provide emotional and mental support to Madeira residents has received 1,340 calls, with 142 people being monitored.

First Covid-19 case in Madeira was 3 months ago

Madeira’s first Covid-19 case was announced on the 17th March. A 61-year-old Dutch tourist, who had arrived in Madeira on the 12th March, tested positive 14 days after the first Covid-19 case in Portugal. She was staying at Enotel
Quinta do Sol. Three months later, there is only one active case in Madeira.

Water supply disruptions today

There will be a water supply disruption in Porto Santo, from 13h00 to 18h00, due to scheduled water to prevent water leaks on the supply network. The disruption will affect Camacha.

Another disruption will take place today, from 9h30 to 11h, at Rua do Ornelas, in the parish of Santa Maria Maior (Funchal).

There are 416 people under active monitoring and 555 people in self-monitoring. As of yesterday, there had been 1,543 suspected cases, 1,453 of which had come back negative.

As for Covid-19 testing, 19,602 samples from 17,192 people have been analysed at Laboratório de Patologia Clínica do SESARAM (Madeira Health Service lab).

The SRS 24 helpline (Regional Health Service – 800 24 24 20) received 13 calls from Sunday to Monday. Overall, the total number of calls made to this helpline is 8,491.

The Covid-19 mental health helpline (219 212 399 – available every day from 9h00 to 21h00) that was set up to provide emotional and mental support to Madeira residents has received 1,310 calls, with 140 people being monitored.

Madeira Regional Government to pay for testing

On the same day that flights between Madeira and the Azores
islands were restored, Pedro Albuquerque, the President of the Madeira Regional Government, announced that Madeira-bound passengers departing from Lisbon will be able to be tested in Lisbon, with the tests being paid for by the Madeira
Regional Government. Miguel Albuquerque stressed it is preferable for Madeira to have this expenditure, instead of spending it in unemployment benefits.

Water supply disruption

There will be a water supply disruption tomorrow, from 14h00 to 19h00, in Machico, due to scheduled work on the water supply network The following areas will be affected: Caramanchão, Fazenda, Moinho da Serra, Piquinho, Ribeira Grande,
Serra de Água and Torre.

There were no new Covid-19 cases today. The number of cases remains at 90. A patient from the Municipality of Funchal recovered. There are now 89 recoveries and only 1 active case remaining.

There are 411 people under active monitoring and 627 people in self-monitoring. As of yesterday, there had been 1,543 suspected cases, 1,453 of which had come back negative.

As for Covid-19 testing, 18,825 samples from 17,027 people have been analysed at Laboratório de Patologia Clínica do SESARAM (Madeira Health Service lab).

The SRS 24 helpline (Regional Health Service – 800 24 24 20) received 10 calls from Saturday to Sunday. Overall, the total number of calls made to this helpline is 8,478.

Empresa de Electricidade da Madeira (Madeira power supplier) announced there will be several power cuts this week, due to planned work on the electricity supply network. The following areas will be affected:

negative. As for Covid-19 testing, 18,579 samples from 16,820 people have been analysed at Laboratório de Patologia Clínica do SESARAM (Madeira Health Service lab).

The SRS 24 helpline (Regional Health Service – 800 24 24 20) received 19 calls from Friday to Saturday. Overall, the total number of calls made to this helpline is 8,468.
