Covid-19 Multidisciplinary Team praised
The work carried out by the SESARAM (Madeira Health Service) Multidisciplinary Team for Covid-19, led by psychiatrist Ricardo Alves, was praised by Pedro Ramos, the Madeira Health and Civil Protection Secretary, and Rafaela Fernandes,
president of the SESARAM Board of Directors. The team, made up of health care professionals specialising in psychology, nutrition and social service, has been providing support to people in quarantine in designated hotels and at home.
Rafaela Fernandes praised their work, saying they have been working beyond their usual duties in hospital and health centres. Pedro Ramos praised their work during the most critical period of the pandemic.
Madeira couple return home three months later than planned
Rafael Santos and Mariana Vieira returned to Madeira, on
the 15th of June, on the first flight SATA operated to Madeira since it suspended flights to the Region due to the pandemic. The couple traveled from Funchal to Ponta Delgada on the 2nd of March and had been due to return on the 24th of
Mach. Two weeks later, quarantine was imposed and shops and services were closed. Despite this, the couple had already managed to make the most of the island’s beauty and main attractions.
Afterwards, the couple stayed at a friends home, without being able to tour the island. The couple kept contacting SATA, expressing their desire to return to Madeira. Their request was approved as soon as flights to the Azores were
restored. They said there had been more Madeirans in the same situation. According to them, all passengers on the return flight behaved exemplarily and they were tested for Covid-19 in Funchal Airport, with the negative results being
announced in the following morning.
