There were no new cases for the ninth consecutive day. The overall number of cases stands at 90.

There are now 59 recoveries and 31 active cases.

There are 5 Municipalities with recovered patients, 3 that never had any cases and 3 with active cases.

Face masks distribution

Pedro Ramos, the Regional Secretary of State for Health and Civil Protection, announced that 80% of the 250 million face masks ordered have already been delivered. The delivery process is expected to be finished by the 20th of May.

Preparations for the arrival of 1,000 tourists

The Regional Government is planning for the arrival of at least 1,000 tourists per day. A sanitary emergency team is being set up and a tracking app could be used. So far, about 100 tourists have arrived each week.

State of Calamity to be extended for another two weeks

The Madeira Regional Government will follow the Portuguese Government extension of the State of Calamity. The general confinement duty will be applicable, but some restrictions will be lifted. The State of Calamity will be applicable
until the 31st of May at 23h59.

Portuguese Air Force airlifted equipment

A Portuguese Air Force C-130 landed yesterday at Funchal Airport, carrying two tons and a half of hospital and operational equipment and PPE for use by several civilian and military entities in the Region. Some equipment was sent to the
Civil Protection Municipal Service of Câmara de Lobos. Some Navy sailors were also flown to Madeira for deployment to the Navy patrol craft NRP Douro. Overall, the Portuguese Air Force has carried over 12 tons worth of equipment for use
in the fight against Covid-19.

Funchal Naval Club to reopen today

The Funchal Naval Club (Clube Naval do Funchal) will reopen today. There will be a maximum capacity limit of 300 members. There are several entrances to the club. All appropriate safety guidelines must be complied with.
