Covid-19 

In the seven days from Friday 15th April until Thursday 21st April there were 2,411 new positive cases of Covid-19 registered in the Azores, and a total of 7,336 tests performed. 2044 people have recovered, and one death has been recorded bringing the total to 106.  There are a total of 2,328 active cases, an increase of 369 cases. One third of the population has had Covid-19.

There are 25 patients in the region’s hospitals including 2 in the ICU.

Masks.

The Regional Government has fallen in line with the National Government regarding mask and visor wearing: –

For all the above, in the Autonomous Region of the Azores and with regard to the mandatory use of masks or visors, it is only determined for access to or stay in health establishments and services, residential or reception structures or home support services for vulnerable populations, elderly people or people with disabilities, as well as integrated long-term care units of the Regional Network of Integrated Continuous Care and in collective passenger transport, including air transport, as well as in the transport of passengers by taxi or TVDE.

São Jorge.

The island of São Jorge recorded seismic volcanic activity “slightly above” the values ​​of the last few days, said the coordinator of CIVISA’s operations on the island, Fátima Viveiros.

Body found.

The body of a man about 35 years old was found, last Wednesday, floating next to the small port of São Roque, in Ponta Delgada, “the causes of the incident are not known”, revealed the National Maritime Authority.
