Booking an Appointment

In order to deal with your documentation in Portugal you must visit a SEF Service Bureau, located in the Regional Directorate, Delegation or Department of your area of residence. SEF has an advanced booking service, through which you may schedule your appointment by telephone or through online registration, for any Service Bureau.
Schedule an appointment by telephone (SEF’s call centre)
You may schedule your appointment by telephone, every working day, from 09:00 to 17:30, by calling our number 808 202 653 (fixed network) or 808 962 690 (mobile network).
The functionality that allows online scheduling of a meeting is available on SEF’s website to all citizens who intend to:

  • Renew their Residence Permit
  • Renew their Residence Card (granted to citizens of the EU, EEE, Switzerland and The Principality of Andorra, and their relatives)
  • Apply for an extension of stay (holders of transit, short stay, or temporary stay visas)

*Citizens who are allowed enter the country with visa waiver, must use the telephone line to schedule a meeting to apply for an extension of their stay, through SEF’s Call Centre (service available from 09:00 to 17:30 through the numbers – 808 202 653 (fixed network) or 808 962 690 (mobile network).
Accessing your online bookings
You may manage your booking on the website. When scheduling a meeting you shall be immediately informed about the date, time and place of your appointment, as well as which documents you must take with you.
