“The Safe Residence Programme, which forms part of the Tavira GNR’s proximity policing and Community Safety policy, has been implemented throughout the area covered by the Tavira Territorial Brigade and is now being expanded into the neighbouring municipalities.

The main goal of this programme is to prevent crime targeting local residents, both Portuguese and foreign, particularly in remote areas.

Homes are geo-referenced and are given a registration number to make them easier to locate and faster to access in an emergency, and also allowing proximity policing and constant interaction between the GNR and the population.

If you would like to join the programme, all you have to do is ask for a registration form at the Tavira GNR Station or contact the Safe Residence Programme’s team direct by using the contact details shown on this page.
