Safe Residence Programme Faro

Introduction

The Safe Residence Programme (SRP) Faro was formed in August 2010. The two officers were selected for the unit and have been there since the team was formed.

The number of registered households continues to grow as at May 2018 there were a total of 1502 households registered. Of these, the the majority of households that form part of 18 programs (the same as the Loulé model) which is similar to a neighbourhood watch system and the remainder are registered individually in isolated areas.

Personal message from the Comandante Destacamento Territorial de Faro

“The Safe Residence Programme is the result of citizens taking an active part in their community and sharing knowledge to help prevent crime. This can be done in a number of ways and one of the best means of ensuring safety is to get to know your neighbours!

In order for the programme to be as successful as possible, we need you to give us as much information as you can about any type of activity that makes you suspicious. You can send us an e-mail at any time using the addresses on the Safe Communities website, but the phone numbers should only be used for emergencies.

This programme is not merely a service provided by the GNR; rather, it is something that involves the whole community. As such, I would like to emphasise the importance of the contribution made by Safe Communities in providing our residents with tips and encouraging them to take part in the programme, thus contributing to its success.”
