Covid-19 

In the seven days from Friday 8th July until Thursday 14th July there were 829 new positive cases of Covid-19 registered in the Azores, and a total of 2,795 tests performed. 1,439 people have recovered, and no new deaths have been recorded with the total still at 117 There are 892 active cases, 609 fewer than the previous week.

There are 21 patients in the region’s hospitals as of 15th of July with Covid, this includes 14 patients that are in hospital because of Covid. There are no patients in the ICU.

116655 people in the region have had Covid, that’s over 48% of the population.

São Jorge Island with 303 earthquakes felt since March 

An earthquake was felt this Tuesday on the island of São Jorge, in the Azores, bringing to 303 the earthquakes perceived by the population and to 43,593 those recorded since the beginning of the seismo    volcanic crisis, revealed CIVISA.

Coastal protection works for Fajã das Pontas on the island of São Jorge

The coastal protection and stabilization work in Fajã das Pontas, in São Jorge, involves the construction of a concrete wall, in an investment of around 740 thousand euros.

The works will include the execution of coastal protection, including earthworks and the construction of a cyclopean concrete wall using existing stone, informs the Regional Government.

Fajã das Pontas is in the parish of Norte Pequeno, in the municipality of Calheta, on the island of São Jorge.
