Covid-19 vaccination update
Covid-19 vaccination is underway in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. Its aim is to continue the inoculation of children aged 5-11, and to administer booster shots to those aged 12 or older.
As of July 9th, more than 534,118 Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered in the Region.
A Covid-19 vaccination team arrived in Porto Santo on July 9th to administer the Covid-19 vaccine on the island to all residents and citizens who were on holiday. The team is grateful to the Portuguese Air Force for having helped with transport to the island.
The second booster shot (4th Covid-19 vaccine dose) is available for those aged 80 or older as well as for those aged 18 or older who have weak immune systems, particularly those who are immunosuppressed, oncologic patients, dialysis patients and had a transplant.
The following Covid-19 vaccination centres will be open in July:
– Funchal (Centro de Saúde do Bom Jesus – Bom Jesus Health Centre) – 16th, 23rd, 30th July (09h00-10h00 for Children & 09h00-17h00 for Adults)
– Calheta – 16th July (09h00-12h00 for Adults)
– Santana – 16th July (09h00-12h00 for Adults)
– Câmara de Lobos – 22nd July (14h00-15h00 for Children & 15h00-19h00 for Adults)
– Santa Cruz (Centro de Saúde do Caniço – Caniço Health Centre) – 23rd July (09h00-13h00 for Adults & 13h00-15h00 for Children)
Second Monkeypox case in Madeira
On July 12th, the Regional Health Directorate (Direção Regional da Saúde) confirmed the second case of Monkepox infection in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The second patient is an adult male. He is being monitored by the Madeira Health Service. All appropriate infection control measures have been implemented. An epidemiological investigation is under way. The first case of Monkeypox in the Region had been announced on June 28th. So far, no other suspected cases of Monkeypox had been reported.
Individuals with rashes with blisters, along with a high temperature, a headache, backache, muscle aches, swollen glands, shivering (chills), exhaustion must abstain from close physical contact and seek medication attention.

Extra Porto Santo ferry services on August 7th, 15th, 21st and 28th
Porto Santo Line informed there will be extra ferry services to and from Porto Santo on August 7th, 15th, 21st, and 28th. These are intended to provide additional travel choices for travellers and to encourage more visitors to visit Porto Santo during the warmest month of the year.
The timetable of the ferry services on these days will be:
Funchal – Porto Santo: 08h00 & 16h30 (extra service)
Porto Santo – Funchal: 13h00 (extra service) & 20h00
Passengers wishing to amend the booking (free of charge) must do so by visiting one of the Porto Santo Line branches:
– Avenida do Mar e das Comunidades Madeirenses, number 20, Funchal (open from Monday to Friday – 08h30-18h00 & Saturday – 09h00-13h00)

Road closures
The following road closures will take place this week:
Scheduled work to remove big trees will force the closure of road E.R. 110, on the stretch between the crossing with Caminho do Lameiro, Porto da Cruz and the crossing with VE1 in Moinhos, Faial. This road closure will take place on July 13th (TODAY) and 14th, from 09h00 and 18h00.
Some roads in Funchal will be closed to traffic on July 16th, from 19h00 to 20h00, due to the athletics race “XVIII Circuito dos Horários do Funchal”. The following roads will be closed to traffic in order to enable the athletes to proceed towards the finishing line:

Water supply disruptions
The Municipality of Funchal informed there will be water supply disruptions affecting the following areas:

Power cut
Empresa de Electricidade da Madeira (Madeira power supplier) announced there will be power cuts due to scheduled work on the electricity supply network. These cannot be postponed and will take place in the following days and places:
