Covid-19 update
There were no new cases yesterday. The patient who had been staying in Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital has recovered. This means there are now 52 recoveries. The health authorities also informed there are not any tests being analysed.
Two hospitals to resume normal service
Grupo HPA Saúde Madeira, which includes Hospital Particular da Madeira
(HPM) and Madeira Medical Center (MMC), will resume normal service from Monday. All contingency measures to ensure the safety and protection of patients and staff will continue to be applied. Entry to the hospitals will only be allowed
after triage, in which there is a Covid-19 questionnaire and body temperature is checked. Face masks must be worn and hands must be disinfected. There will be social distancing markers. There will be specific procedures regarding
suspected cases, in coordination with SESARAM (Madeira Health Service).
All clinical analysis; permanent care service (adults); appointments; nursing services; medical imaging and cardiology and gastroenterology testing will resume at MMC, with the following working hours: Mondays to Fridays (from 7h30 to
21h) and Saturdays (from 7h30 to 14h).
As for HPM, all testing, appointments for adults and children and permanent paediatric services will have the following working hours: 9h00 to 00h00.
End of lockdown schedule
Swimming pools, spas and jacuzzis will remain closed.
The Porto Santo beach will reopen on Sunday. However, gatherings will be forbidden and swimmers must keep appropriate distancing. Cafés, bars, restaurantes and changing rooms will remain closed.
Restaurants, cafés, bakeries (including outdoor space as long as social distancing is adhered to) will reopen on May 18th if the pandemic remains under control.
Forests will reopen for picnics on May 11th.
Museums and libraries will reopen on May 14th.
Gyms will reopen on May 12th with only 1/3 of its capacity
Recreational crafts will be allowed to leave the marina on May 15th, apart from crafts dedicated to tourism and maritime activities.
Mandatory quarantine will be enforced until May 18th. However, it could be brought back if there are new Covid-19 cases.
