Community face masks not accepted at HPA hospitals

Group HPA Saúde Madeira – Hospital Particular da Madeira and Madeira Medical Center do not allow people wearing comment face masks, such as those delivered by the Regional Government (resusable masks with TNT filters), to enter their
premises. Only people wearing surgical masks will be allowed in their premises. This follows the DGS (Direção Geral da Saúde – Directorate-General of Health) guidelines (Norma 007/2020 & Orientação 019/2020), which recommends surgical
masks are worn by all healthcare staff, all people who enter and move inside healthcare premises.

When booking an appointment, all customers are informed of the mandatory use of surgical masks. And the day before an appointment/exam, a text message will be sent reminding that the use of surgical face mask is mandatory and telling
customers to arrive 15 minutes before the appointment/exam. If customers arrive without wearing a surgical face mask, they can buy one in the pre-triage area for €1. All this information can also be found on Grupo HPA Saúde’s website,
Facebook and on the information campaign that is broadcast daily on RTP Madeira.

More than 60 passengers landed in Madeira

A TAP aircraft, carrying more than 60 passengers, landed in Funchal yesterday afternoon. They were met by healthcare teams who explained to them the isolation guidelines and the protocol to follow if they start developing Covid-19
symptoms. Passengers, mostly young people, were taken by coach to Hotel Vila Galé where they will be staying during the 14 days of mandatory quarantine. The Police (PSP) escorted the coach carrying them and set up a security cordon. A
few passengers went home after showing evidence of a Covid-19 test that had come back negative. They will still have to stay in isolation for a period of 14 days. A reminder that more than 120 landed in Madeira in the last 3 days (66 on
Thursday and more than 60 yesterday afternoon).
