A 45-year-old man died today 18th September 2022 after allegedly feeling unwell when entering the water, going into cardiac arrest, at Praia da Saúde, in Costa da Caparica, in the district of Setúbal, the National Maritime Authority (AMN) reported.

In a statement, the AMN clarified that the alert was given at 1:30 pm, with elements of the Lisbon Maritime Police Local Command, the Emergency and Reanimation Medical Vehicle of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) and members of the Volunteer Firefighters.

“The victim, a 45-year-old man, was pulled out of the water alive by lifeguards on the beach, having gone into cardiorespiratory arrest upon arrival at the beach,” says the same note.

According to the AMN, resuscitation was performed without success, and the death was declared on the spot by the INEM doctor.

The body was transported by the Volunteer Firefighters of Cacilhas to the morgue of Hospital Garcia da Orta.
